Wiboot is a French-based startup that combines IOT and AI different stacks in a single integrated platform, allowing professionals to create rapidly their application and maximize their return on investment.

The startup combine new standard allowing the seamless communication between all devices (multi OS) with all cloud applications or IOT platforms (multi cloud). The startup’s Julien MorinCo-founder and CEO Julien Morin explains.

Introduce your startup

Wiboot simplifies the creation of business applications by eliminating the technical complexity of IoT and Edge Computing. We provide the shortest path to a specific IoT device, from a catalog of design to cost and ready to scale standards.

Who founded Wiboot and what are their professional backgrounds?

Julien Morin is the co-founder & CEO of Wiboot. He has a long experience in BtoB solutions acquired at HTC and General Electric. He founded Urban Potager (automated indoor urban farms) then joined the start-up Hubware as product director. His contribution relates to the strategy, the definition of the product and the marketing.

Wael Chahrour is the co-founder & CTO. Wael is a high level developer with 20 years of experience in embedded electronics. He masters all the bricks from the hardware design to the machine learning model. With his brother, they created Airlane Technologies in 2005 and sold connected machine solutions to Stanley Black & Decker. Over the past 10 years, they have designed, produced and marketed more than 30,000 electronic devices.

Who are the owners of the Wiboot?

The company is held at 100 per cent by its founders.

Where is Wiboot located?

Wiboot is a company based in France. The headquarter is located in Toulouse, and the R&D department in Montesson, close to Paris.

What industry does your company operate in?

Wiboot operates in all industries that have IoT needs : Industry, Smart Building, Retail

What in your opinion are the dynamics that have shaped your industry?

The global Internet of Things market size stood at $250.72 billion in 2019 and is projected to reach $1,463.19 billion by 2027, with an annual growth rate around 30%.

Why did you start Wiboot? What opportunities did you see?

Based on the recent Microsoft IoT study, only 26% of companies consider their IoT project a success. When a company decides to launch an IoT project, it has to consider the "Make or Buy" possibility. Most of the failures are due to a wrong decision in this process.

Indeed, when a company decides to design its own IoT solution - because the use case is not addressed by a specific IoT solution or because the project is a core-business challenge - the company has to manage a lot of technology stacks: sensors, processor, connectivity , casing, power management, security, firmware update, device management, backoffice, etc ... This type of projects is complex, time consuming, need a lot of technical ressources, expansive, and the ROI is often hard to determine.

In the other hand, an effort to standardize and simplify the software has been underway for several years: WYSIWYG editors, explosion of CMS, automation software, etc. However, this work has not yet been done on the lower layer, that of the hardware.

What problem or problems does Wiboot solve?

Wiboot simplifies and accelerates the development of professional IoT projects and applications, by the standardization and the virtualization of the hardware and operate device management through our platform.

What gives Wiboot the competitive edge?

First, we have created an abstraction layer which virtualizes any IoT device to a generic data model. This process allows to split any devices and a group of bricks : sensors definition, connectivity, power.

In parallel, we have developed a web based cross-compiler for IoT devices that allow updating any devices over the air, whatever its processor or its configuration.

Who forms the clientele base?

We work with innovation managers IoT project managers and with partners such as IT consultancy firms.

In which markets are you looking to establish your presence?

Our company has started in the French and European market. We plan to open North America in few months.
